Memphis Roar joins the 247Sports network

247Sports adds another market leader

Late Wednesday night, MemphisRoar.com officially joined the 247Sports network giving the network another subscription market leader.

From the official release:

Founded in late 2007, Memphis Roar’s goal is to cover, promote and support athletics within the city of Memphis – including prep, collegiate and professional – in a positive manner and to provide a medium for fans to exchange knowledge and views. With regard to the University of Memphis, our goal is to highlight its athletic endeavors by increasing coverage and educating fans on the latest news relevant to any and all things Memphis.

The challenging task of moving a large site from one platform to another is underway. 247Sports is honoring any existing subscriptions to Memphis Roar, as well as, adding a 30-day trial to it. Memphis Roar publisher Brooks Hansen knows how important this transition is, “My hope is that people follow us here at 247Sports the same way they did while we were independent. That community interaction and support is vital to what we do.”

Memphis becomes the fifth AAC school on 247Sports joining Cincinnati, Louisville, South Florida and Temple.

Update: As of this morning, Pat Tholey of 247Sports reports that the transition is going smooth, and the site hit triple digit merges early Wednesday morning.
